I am an Employee / Worker

We offer a personal and professional approach to all our employment queries, whether it is a disciplinary, dismissal or grievance issue.

With the current economic climate, more and more employees face redundancy. We can advise on whether or not the redundancy is fair and whether you may have a claim for unfair dismissal. If an employee has worked for an organisation for more than two years, he / she is entitled to receive a statutory redundancy payment.

We advise clients on their equal opportunity rights and their rights when it comes to maternity and paternity issues.

We also deal with contractual issues such as pay, pensions, notice periods and unlawful deductions of wages.

No employee should suffer from bullying, harassment or any form of discrimination in the workplace and we can assist you with understanding your options under such circumstances.

We are also available to advise clients on Settlement Agreements and negotiate terms on their behalf. Clients need to be aware of the possible inclusion of restrictive covenants in such Agreements. An employer will usually contribute towards an employee's legal costs in entering into a Settlement Agreement.
With our assistance, matters can hopefully be dealt with amicably and swiftly. However, if issues cannot be resolved through the conciliation process, we will assist you with submitting and pursuing a claim in the Employment Tribunal.
There is a strict time limit for submitting a claim to the Employment Tribunal and early advice is therefore essential.
Before lodging any claim you must attempt to conciliate through ACAS’ Early Conciliation Scheme. If settlement is not reached through the Scheme then you will be provided with a Unique Reference Number to then enable you to pursue your claim.

When you contact ACAS, the time limit for you to lodge a claim will “pause” and will start again once your Unique Reference Number is received. It is essential therefore, that you obtain advice to ensure any claim is lodged in time. There are also Employment Tribunal fees to consider and we can advise you fully in relation to the same and whether you may qualify for fee remission.
