Criminal Injuries and the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA)

We are able to offer advice and assistance to blameless individuals who have been victims of violent crime. Claims may arise where an individual has been physically or mentally injured (or both) as a result of a violent crime in England, Wales and Scotland.

An individual may also make a claim where he/she is a dependant and/or close relative of a person who died as a result of a violent crime. A violent crime includes incidents of assault (physical and sexual), wounding, where you were injured as a direct result of a crime of arson, where there was a deliberate attempt to poison you and where an animal was deliberately set on you with the intent of causing you injury.

There is a 2 year time limit within which to lodge a claim for criminal injuries with the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority together with specific requirements in relation to reporting of the crime. [/center]
